I had the distinct honor and privilege to serve on the committee that dedicated the first Coast Guard Memorial to the Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. I served as the webmaster and online donation administrator and performed other tasks as needed. The Project Officer was CAPT Barry Campagnoni, USCG (Retired). Barry was showing his father-in-law, a retired Coast Guard Officer, around Punchbowl and the father-in-law mentioned that the Coast Guard was the only service not represented by a memorial, so Barry set out on a journey to remedy that. I was one of more than 40 volunteers that served on the Memorial Committee.
